An Introduction to Nomadic Buff

Hello! I'm Breanna (or Bree) and I wanted to welcome you to my brand new blog!

With my first post, I figured that it would be a good thing to introduce myself. In trying to think of the best way to do that, I figured that instead of going into big long explanations of all of the facets that make me "me" (which I am totally prone on doing), that I would instead keep it simple. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so that my hope is that by using s few of my favorite pictures, and a few extra words on top, that they will tell the story of who I am better than I could with my long-winded explanations. So here we go!

This is me!  An Auburn haired lass! Probably not a super interesting fact, but I do have the fiestiness to goes along with that hair. But don't worry, I won't bite your head off 😀

I am a Pediatric nurse. I work with infants and toddlers at Primary Children's Hospital and I absolutely love my job!  Getting paid to snuggle babies and to help sick kiddos get back to the full-time gig of being a kid is the best job ever! If I have to create a "nail salon" (complete with sign up sheet) to take their minds off of being sick, by golly, that's the most fun part of the job! Sometimes, if I'm really lucky, my nails will get done with really sparkly and bright colors!

I am also a new doggy mama! Meet Ivy, my 5-month-old Goldendoodle puppy and the love of my life! She has been so fun, if somewhat troublesome. She LOVES dirt and playing in the sand. She also gets so excited about the snow and loves to frolic in it when she gets an opportunity. Sometimes it can be a challenge to keep her out of trouble, but I'm willing to play the game if she is!

Being a puppy is exhausting!

I have amazing parents that instilled a love of travel in me as a little whipper snapper. Until I was 3, we lived in England where my parents were determined to drag around 5 kids (of which I am the youngest) all around to see every castle and museum.  I couldn't appreciate it at that young age, but it planted a seed, and as we continued to go camping back in the states, it took root.

I claim the beautiful state of Utah as home. I have grown up here since we moved back from England, and I will admit that I didn't appreciate it for a long time. It wasn't until I moved to Southern California after my first year of college that I realized what a truly gorgeous state it is! Southern California has its own charms, but I found that after a year living there, my soul craved the truly majestic scenery that people from all over the world make a serious effort to see. So after three years of living in California, I moved back to Utah.

I am FASCINATED with ancient civilizations! I was convinced in 5th grade that I would be an Egyptologist. Then I started learning about the ancient Romans and Grecians, the Incans and Aztecs, and, ultimately, the Anasazi is the group that really captured my fascination. 40 years ago, my grandpa was introduced to a very isolated and beautiful place in Utah that has evidence of these mysterious ancient people everywhere! Ruins and pottery are abundant, and ancient tools and weapons are REALLY fun to find if you know what to look for. My grandpa started taking my dad and his siblings, who in turn took me and my siblings when we came along. I have been down there many times over the years, and it is still my very favorite place to go.

I am also the proud aunt of 15 nieces and nephews, and I adore them all! To them, I am known as "Auntie Buff" or "Aunt Buffalo" (another story for another post). I'm sure some of them don't know my real name but I'm just fine with that. Auntie Buff is more fun anyways.

A few years back, I discovered the beautiful state of Oregon, with all of its greenery, waterfalls, and gorgeous coastline, it really is like a land from a fairy tale. I've gone several times since I discovered my love for this amazing place and I still haven't seen everything I want to there. It helps to have a sister that lives there with her family so that I can see some of it with them too.

There are a lot of other facets that I could go into, and maybe I will in a later post if it comes up, but the last thing that I will mention here on this already very long blog (see! I told you I was long-winded!) is that I love to cook and bake! I'm not much of one to take pictures of my food, though maybe I'll do some posts on how to cook some of my favorite things in the future. But with that last fact out there, that is me in nutshell! I hope that you'll stay tuned as I post about the adventures in my life, however large or small that they may be! Ta-ta!
